Finally, after roughly trekking in the jungle you will deserve peaceful rest of the day in Samosir, Toba lake, and experience the fascinating ancient Batak culture.

Trip Summary

Day 1:  Arrival in Kualanamu intl’ Airport, Medan and transfer to Bukit Lawang.

  • Arrive at Medan airport, Our team will meet you at the airport and continue driving directly to Bukit Lawang About 4 hours of driving. Bukit Lawang is a small village at the foot of Gunung Leuser Nature Park, one of the largest in Asia with its 900,000 hectares. You will discover an exceptional fauna and flora and of course the Orangutans. There are said to be around 7,000. Overnight at (your hotel of choice).

Day 2 and 3 : THE ORANGUTAN OF BUKIT LAWANG

  • We leave for two days and one night in the forest to encounter the Orangutans and also the other wildlife in GunungLeuser Park. Your local jungle guide will introduce you to the jungle and the animals that we might see in the jungle.

  • Overnight with the hut in the jungle and return to our ecolodge by rafting/tubing on the Bohorok River, Arrival at the ecolodge, check in and take rest, or walking tour around Bukit lawang village traditional market and overnight at (your hotel of choice).

DAY 4 : TRANSFER TO TANGKAHAN ECOTOURISM – ELEPHANT CONSERVATION

  •  After breakfast, depart to Tangkahan ecotourism site crossing “gravel road with 4wd” road condition almost 12km ahead to elephant conservation CRU.

  • Arrival in Tangkahan check in at our ecolodge and procced to have lunch. In the afternoon, an hour's walk to see elephants and elephant bath.   • Night on-site in bungalow.

 

DAY 5 : TRANSFER TO BERASTAGI – SIBAYAK VOLCANO

  • After breakfast  transfer to Berastagi, a small town at 1300 meters altitude in Karo country. Around 5 hours of driving.

  • Berastagi is where the fruits and vegetables we find throughout the region grow. Berastagi is known for its strawberries and passion fruits, as well as for its two active volcanoes that surround it, Sibayak and Sinabung.

  • Visit the traditional market and the Lumbini Buddhist pagoda. Overnight at Kalang Ulu hotel.

 

DAY 6 : CLIMB SIBAYAK VOLCANO- DOKAN VILLAGE AND TOBA LAKE

  • Climb the Sibayak volcano. Departure at 4:30 am with an experienced guide and arrived at the top for the sunrise.

  • Return to the hotel after that, we take the road to Lake Toba. About 5 hours of driving. We will stop at village of Dokan with its old Batak Karo houses.

  • Once we arrive in Parapat, we take a boat and reach Samosir and the village of Tuk Tuk, a small village on the edge of the lake. Lake Toba is the largest volcanic lake in the world with 100 km long and 35 wide.

  • Relaxation and overnight stay in a hotel (Tabo cottage)

 DAY 7 - 8 : SAMOSIR, TOBA LAKE

These day we wil enjoy fascinating Toba lake and unique ancient Batak Culture, during our stay there is lot plenty activities we will do such :

  • Learning and immersing with Batak Culture

  • Visiting Museum of Batak, Traditional Batak house and meet local people

  • Traditonal Batak dance

  • Traditional Market

  • Scooter or bycicle around toba

DAY 9 : SAMOSIR, TOBA LAKE

  • In the morning return to Medan City, arrive in Medan City Check in to our hotel  and Medan city tour and evening

DAY 10 : LEAVING MEDAN CITY – HOME / YOUR NEXT DESTINATION

  • Catch your flight and Leaving Medan city.

  • Trip end

  • The conditions in this trip, which these stays are carried out sometimes felt as “pain” and to be required for each participant to have:

> To be well informed before departure about the culture and ways of life in Sumatra and the jungle. ( the guide will give some little briefing and explain about this before we will start our trip )

  • Because the Sumatra area is covered with rainforest and located right on the equator, it has a tropical climate, the weather is hot and humid all year round. The driest season normally starts from May to September, although there are sporadic rains and may occur during this period. Rains are abundant between November and January. The average temperature is 30 °C degree so be ready for hot, humid, and hasty conditions.

  • Respect the culture of every local community, for example, local wisdom, their law order, their way of living, the way they dress their upbringing methods, different life perspectives, and views of the world and local environment in the community.

Things to carry

  • Small backpack (we can leave some stuff at the previous place we stayed in (hotel/hostel)

  • Long trousers, long sleeves, t-shirt, fresh underwear (there will be sweating going on)

  • Rain clothes (forget about umbrella)

  • We recommend bringing a dry bag/pocket (waterproof) to protect your camera and any other important documents and equipment you need to take care of

  • Trekking shoes, sleeping bag, a mosquito repellent, high protection sunscreen, a headlamp, toilet paper, a sun hat/cap, sunglasses, water bottle

  • First aid such as paracetamol, pain killers, anti-diarrhea, disinfectant, all other medication you would usually take

  • Do not overpack! Keep it simple

  • We strongly recommended that you will have to take your responsibility for your travel insurance during the trip with us, or as soon as you book this tour. And do not forget to bring all those important documents and information with you.
